• may not be too low to avoid flooding
• may not be too flat so that drainage is possible
• may not have upward gradients of more than 15 degrees to exclude soil erosion
• must be accessible to motorized vehicles all year round
• must be fertile

If an area complies with these requirements, soil samples are eventually taken and examined for suitability.

All our plantations are in the eastern provice of Darién on areas that were used for agricultural purposes before. No rainforest is destroyed to put upthe plantations. The plantations are guarded all year round.
